Research and Resources

The following websites are some of the many good sources of information on conditions and treatment, and we encourage patients to be curious.

National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH)
SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
National Alliance on Mental Illness
Freedom From Fear
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder)

Additionally there are many good books that can assist an individual in understanding and managing his/her condition.

For panic and anxiety there are self help books that review basic concepts and behavioral strategies to lessen or deter anxiety attacks. Feeling Good, which was written over 30 years ago, is still one of the best books to learn about strategies for dealing with depression.

The list of good and reliable resources is longer than can be produced here, but the recommendation is that you explore options for self help to augment treatment strategies designed through collaboration with Dr. Tyson.
